SMS Access

At Eleplan, SMS Access allows you to interact with your care plans directly through text messaging. This feature makes it easy to ask questions, retrieve information, and stay informed using your phone—without needing to log into the app.

Getting Started

SMS Access works through a dedicated phone number assigned to your account. Once enabled, you can send text messages to this number to ask questions and receive responses based on your care plan information.

To begin using SMS Access, your account must have SMS enabled and your phone number must be verified. Verification confirms your identity, enables two-way messaging, and ensures secure access to sensitive information.

Your verified phone number becomes linked to your Eleplan account, and all SMS interactions are logged and associated with that account.

Phone Number Verification

Before sending messages, you must verify your phone number in your account settings. This process involves receiving a one-time verification code via SMS and confirming it in the app.

Verification is required for compliance, security, and reliable message delivery. Each phone number can only be verified on one Eleplan account at a time.

If verification fails or a code expires, you can request a new code from your settings.

Asking Questions by Text

Once verified, you can text your Eleplan SMS number with questions about your care plan. The system automatically determines which plan to use and responds using the information available in that plan.

If you manage only one care plan, all questions automatically use that plan. If you manage multiple plans, you can control which one is active using simple SMS commands.

Responses are sent back via SMS and may be split into multiple messages if the answer is long.

Managing Multiple Care Plans

When multiple care plans are available, SMS Access allows you to switch context without logging into the app. You can list available plans, confirm your current context, or switch to another plan directly through text messages.

Commands are sent as regular SMS messages and are not case-sensitive. If a command is entered incorrectly, the system may interpret it as a question instead.

Message Logging and Security

All SMS messages sent and received through Eleplan are logged and secured. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is controlled through verified phone numbers and account permissions.

This ensures that care plan information remains protected while still being accessible when you need it.

Costs and Usage

SMS usage is credit-based. Each message sent or received counts as one SMS credit. You can monitor usage and remaining credits from your billing settings to help manage costs.

For complex or detailed requests, using the dashboard instead of SMS can help conserve credits.

By using SMS Access, you can quickly retrieve care plan information, stay informed on the go, and interact with Eleplan using nothing more than a text message. If you need help setting up or troubleshooting SMS Access, please contact our support team.
